The smart phone, and its application software, has increased a presence in the creation of photographic artworks. Many photographers and artists now use their smart phones, and a number of different apps, to modify and manipulate image capture. This telling exhibition showcases the work of a number of photographers, invited from around the world, who use the smart phone to assist in the creation of their work.

All of the artwork in the exhibition was submitted digitally to reduce the impact on the environment and all of the photographs were printed on campus on recycled, acid-free paper.
“It’s an unusual show that hasn’t been done very often, so it’s kind of exciting for the artists and us,” said JU Associate Professor of Jack Turnock, the show’s curator. “I invited artists from around the world to participate.
“Some of the invited participants are professional photographers, some are amateur artists, but all are intrigued by the possibilities offered by technology. One invited photographer has written the definitive book on the subject of smart phone .
